Tamara Svatíková and Alex Hulka honoured by the Mayor for representing Jablonica
This time, the achievements of our athletes brought recognition not at an athletics stadium, but at home in Jablonica. During the Municipality Day celebrations, Tamara Svatíková and Alex Hulka were honoured by the Mayor for their outstanding representation of Jablonica – recognition that reaches beyond medals, times and positions on a results sheet.
On 22 August 2026, Jablonica held its traditional Municipality Day. As part of the programme, individuals who have contributed to representing the municipality were recognised, including two prominent ŠK Jablonica athletes – Tamara Svatíková and Alex Hulka. The date of the event is also confirmed by the municipality's official events calendar.
Both athletes have grown through our club and have carried the name of Jablonica to athletics venues in Slovakia and abroad. The club's history lists both among athletes who have achieved success at Slovak championships while also representing Slovakia internationally.
Tamara received her award in person
Tamara Svatíková attended the ceremony and received the award personally. The recognition comes during a season in which she has continued to demonstrate her versatility across sprinting, hurdles and long jump, taking her performances to international level.
There is something particularly symbolic about an athlete returning from competitions and stepping onto a stage in her home community – not to receive another athletics medal, but to be recognised for the way she represents the place where her sporting journey began.
Head coach Tomáš Zavadil accepted the award on Alex's behalf
Alex Hulka could not attend the ceremony because he was at a training camp in Italy. His award was therefore accepted on his behalf by ŠK Jablonica head coach Tomáš Zavadil.
Alex has long been one of the club's leading home-grown athletes. ŠK Jablonica's club history records him as a Slovak champion in the 2000 m steeplechase, a national championship medallist and a Slovak representative.
Athletes also represent the place where they grew up
For ŠK Jablonica, recognition of this kind has a special meaning. Every time an athlete competes, they represent more than themselves. Their club appears alongside their name on the results sheet, coaches and many others stand behind their preparation, and the name of their home community travels with them to competitions.
Tamara and Alex are part of a generation showing that the journey from a small club and a small municipality can lead to major national and international athletics competitions.
