Tamara Svatíková joins the Slovak national team training camp at Štrbské Pleso

24/10/2026

Following her appearance at the World U20 Championships in Eugene, Tamara Svatíková has added another national team experience to her 2026 season. The ŠK Jablonica athlete spent the past week at the Slovak national athletics team's joint training camp at Štrbské Pleso, alongside many of the country's leading senior and junior athletes.

After a one-year break, the Slovak Athletic Federation returned to its tradition of holding a joint October training camp in the High Tatras. From 18 to 24 October, Hotel FIS welcomed 60 athletes and 22 coaches and support staff.

Invitations were primarily extended to athletes who had represented Slovakia at major international competitions, as well as athletes selected on the basis of their performances. For Tamara, the camp therefore provided a natural continuation of a season that also included her appearance at the World U20 Championships in Eugene.

Training, testing and education

The week in the High Tatras was about much more than regular training. Junior athletes also completed testing of three key speed and strength parameters under the supervision of Richard Dúbravský from Slovakia's National Sports Centre.

The programme assessed lower-body performance, maximum isometric ankle strength and maximum eccentric hamstring strength, providing athletes and coaches with additional information that can be used when planning the next phase of preparation.

Training organised by the individual event groups complemented the testing. The surroundings of Štrbské Pleso provided opportunities for running, stair sessions at the ski jumps, strength training, recovery and mountain hikes.

Education was another part of the programme. Athletes and coaches attended a session led by the Slovak Anti-Doping Agency covering anti-doping rules and recent developments, while sports nutrition and supplements were also addressed during the camp.

Another experience among Slovakia's leading athletes

According to national head coach Libor Charfreitag, the joint camp was designed both as a complement to the beginning of preparations for the new season and as an opportunity to strengthen the national team.

For a young athlete, that environment offers value beyond the individual training sessions. Tamara spent the week alongside experienced Slovak internationals as well as many of the country's leading young athletes.

For ŠK Jablonica, it is also significant to see our junior international once again included among the athletes invited to a Slovak Athletic Federation national team event.

The 2026 season may be over, but at Štrbské Pleso the work towards the next one has already begun.
