Third place and a national final spot for ŠK Jablonica in Trnava

10/10/2026

The Children's Cross-Country Relay in Trnava brought another strong result for the young athletes of ŠK Jablonica. Sebastian Jozefík, Klára Polakovičová, Martin Hazucha and Eliška Tomanová finished third in the 2015–2016 age category and secured qualification for the national final in Žiar nad Hronom.

On Sunday, 4 October, the Municipal Athletics Stadium in Trnava hosted the regional round of the 2026 Children's Cross-Country Relay. The event was organised by the Slovak Athletic Federation in cooperation with AK AŠK Slávia Trnava and brought together athletics schools from across the Trnava Region.

Unlike traditional individual competitions, this event was all about teamwork. Each relay consisted of two boys and two girls, running in the order boy – girl – boy – girl. In the older 2015–2016 category, each athlete completed 500 metres for a total relay distance of 4 × 500 m.

This was where ŠK Jablonica produced its standout result. Sebastian Jozefík, Klára Polakovičová, Martin Hazucha and Eliška Tomanová completed the course in 5:53.0, earning third place in the official standings.

The result carried additional significance. Trnava served as a regional qualifying round, with the two fastest teams from different clubs earning places in the national final. ŠK Jablonica met the qualifying criteria, meaning the relay team's season will continue on the national stage.

ŠK Jablonica was also represented by other relay teams in Trnava, giving our young athletes valuable experience in a format where the final result depends on the entire team. Every leg, every exchange and every second contributes to the performance of all four runners.

The focus now shifts to the next challenge. The Children's Cross-Country Relay National Final will take place in Žiar nad Hronom on 21 November 2026, alongside the Slovak Cross-Country Championships.

Congratulations to Sebastian, Klára, Martin and Eliška on third place – and good luck in the national final!
