Victories and valuable experience for ŠK Jablonica at the anniversary Medlenov Chodník

The 20th edition of Medlenov Chodník welcomed runners of all ages to Gbely on Saturday, 12 September. ŠK Jablonica was represented from the youngest children's races to the main programme, with victories for Sebastian Jozefík and Linda Vozárová and an M40 category win for Miroslav Ochotnický.

The anniversary edition formed part of the Moravian-Slovak Running Cup, Grand Prix Záhorie and the Záhorie Children's Running Cup. The afternoon began with the children's programme before attention turned to the main 6.4 km and 10.4 km races.

Sebastian Jozefík produced a strong performance in the youngest boys' 400 m, taking victory in 1:14. Linda Vozárová also reached the top step of the podium, winning the preschool girls' 100 m in 20 seconds. Vivien Kubisová joined her on the podium with 3rd place in 24 seconds, while Veronika Ochotnická finished 9th.

Diana Ochotnická came close to the podium with 4th place over 400 m in 1:21, while Tobias Kubisa was also 4th in the 100 m. Laura Ochotnická finished 6th over 600 m, Kristián Kubisa took 6th place over 300 m and Anežka Ochotnická was 6th in the 200 m. Šimon Ochotnický also competed over 300 m.

Šimon then took on an unusual challenge over 1,000 metres. The nine-year-old, born in 2017, entered a race listed in the official results as a junior event. Only two runners started, and his sole opponent was Lukáš Vlček, born in 2007, who won in 3:07. Šimon completed the kilometre in 4:56. Rather than presenting his second place as a conventional podium result, the race was primarily a valuable opportunity to test himself over a longer distance against an athlete ten years his senior.

In the main programme, Miroslav Ochotnický won the M40 category over 6.4 km in 36:00.77, finishing 33rd overall. Miroslava Ochotnícka completed the same course in 54:36.71, taking 16th place in the W35 category.

The anniversary Medlenov Chodník therefore brought ŠK Jablonica a combination of strong results and valuable racing experience – from victories in the youngest categories and an unusual 1,000-metre challenge to a category win in the main programme.
