The first Saturday of August took our athletes across the Slovak-Czech border to Velká nad Veličkou, where the 56th edition of the traditional Horňácká 25 was held on 1 August. Alongside the main 25 km and 8 km road races, the programme included track events for children and youth athletes. ŠK Jablonica was represented by the Ochotnický family, with Diana producing the best result of the day by taking second place in the 400 metres.

The Horňácká 25 has a long tradition. While the senior runners competed over 25 km and 8 km road courses, the younger athletes took to the local track for races ranging from 70 to 1,000 metres.

Diana Ochotnická delivered the strongest result for ŠK Jablonica. Competing in the girls' 2015–2016 category, she completed the 400 metres in 1:20 to claim an excellent second place among ten competitors.

Laura Ochotnická lined up for the 600 metres, finishing in 2:44 and taking fifth place. Šimon Ochotnický competed over 300 metres, recording 1:10 and finishing seventh in the boys' 2017–2018 category.

The youngest member of our team, Anežka Ochotnická, raced over 200 metres. She crossed the finish line in 43 seconds, earning sixth place among the girls born in 2019–2020.

The racing did not end there. Diana, Šimon and Laura also took on the 1,000-metre race later in the programme. Diana finished in 4:30, Šimon in 5:17 and Laura in 5:26, giving all three another valuable racing experience.

ŠK Jablonica was also represented in the road-running part of the event. Miroslav Ochotnický competed in the 14th Horňácká 8 km race, completing the course from Velká nad Veličkou through Javorník and back in 51:25.17.

The traditional Moravian event therefore brought another valuable day of competition for our young athletes – and this time also a place on the podium, courtesy of Diana Ochotnická's silver medal in the 400 metres.
